This teacher training program is for those students that want to deepen their practiceand to delve into the philosophy, techniques andmethdology pf Ashtanga yoga. If you already teach yoga, this course will give you invaluable tools to work even better with your students and a very rich context to everything you are teaching.
Regardless of the vastness of informtion in this comprehensive course, it would be a mistake to come with the expectation to become a teacher .You and I bothe know that becoming a teacher requires years of dedication and studying alongside your leading teacher. If you still lack the years of training, we advise that you give yourself time to practice daily for a substantial period of time applying what you have learned.
We will give you a solid fouundation from which to go further in your explorations and development as a practitioner and eventually a teacher, but your daily practice maintained for a log period of time will always be your best teacher.

It is an affirmation of your serious intentions, our dedication to yogaand the wellbeing of your students. A good teacher is always a good student. Yoga is primarily personal experience and this part time teacher training is going to give it to you.
The Part Time Teacher Training Program includes 8 weekends - one every three months - so that your training will take about 6 months altogether. Investing this time is the best you can do for your future as an Ashtanga yoga practitiner and eventually a teacher, because the time spent in study will give you considerable experience of the method. This course is suitable for seasoned practitioners, practitioners with an established and steady practice and/or yoga teachers with some experience in Ashtanga or other vinyasa style of yoga.
Even though the program covers the same material as the full time program, it willl require more from your efforts, motivation and diligence since you will be given more independant home work. This includes keeping a diary of your practice, describing certain practices, as well as all tests, esseys and written reflexion expected from all students. If you are uncertain about the level of your practice, please stop by the shala to get advice and guidence from a teacher.

Candidates should have practiced Ashtanga yga for a minimum of 2 years or any other form of yoga for 3-4 years. If we do not know your practice, please take a class with us so we can evaluat your level and give you advice on how to proceed. If you practice seriously for a long time and are interested in this training, do not hesitate to talkto us if it is the most suitable for you.
Your training must be completed within a year from registration and you can plan its course as it suits your schedule. You must take responsibility to be present in the required modules as per shala schedule of events. We are running a busy schedule of events, holding most seminars on a monthly basis, so make sure you check te availability of places prior to participation.

To successfully complete your training, you have to:
know and follow the sequence of the Primary Series asanas;
know and apply the correct vinyasa count for each asana;
be able to count the vinyasas in Sanskrit with adequate tempo and know the Sanskrit names of all Primary Series postures;
understand the correct alignment of each posture and its modifications;
know the traditional progression methods and ways of teaching as established by Pattabhi Jois, Manju Jois and Sharath Jois;
be skillful at observing practitioners during led and Mysore style classes;
apply safe methods of adjustment;
have an established personal practice and know how to progress;
respect the Ashtanga tradition and its teachers.

AT THE END OF YOUR TRAINING:

Have a solid grasp of the fundamental yoga asanas of Ashtanga Yoga;
Understand how anatomy and physiology relate to yoga practice;
Understand how to look at students’ bodies on a physical and an energetic level;
Draw upon basic knowledge of the subtle body and yoga philosophy;
Have a basic understanding of the art of pranayama;
Learn the traditional counted Sanskrit Vinyasa system;
Learn verbal instruction and safe hands-on adjustments;
Through yogas experience-based approach, you will also experience first-hand the transformative physical, mental, and spiritual effects of an intelligent yoga practice
Completion of this course and successful testing of material is compliant with Yoga Alliance RYT 200 hr standards.
